I believe that well designed technology can make the world a better place, and since 2003 I’ve worked as an information architect and designer on a range of projects and clients trying to do just that. Currently, I work as a principal designer focused on investment research products for financial professionals at Morningstar.
My time at Morningstar has been split between hands-on UX design work and design management and leadership. Across every role I’ve tried to help teams identify and solve problems for individual investors, financial advisors, asset managers, and other investment professionals.
While working at Tanagram Partners I designed Fortune 500 data mining applications, next-generation cockpit interfaces, a large-scale online banking system, and an augmented reality heads–up display for fire fighters and other first responders. At Tribune Technology, I spent most of my time working on the CMS that powers all of Tribune’s media sites, but also worked on a number of other more experimental projects as well, including Tribune’s first foray into e-commerce. I’ve also planned, conducted, and analyzed multiple user research studies throughout my career.
I received a BA in English (with an emphasis in Creative Writing) from Illinois Wesleyan University. While I was there I helped the Admissions department develop an award-winning mini-site.
